A vintage fashion from the house of Coco Chanel. The dress has a classic design which is based on a 1940s silhouette. It is a brilliant shade of violet/blue and is made of the lightest, pleated silk chiffon. The dress has natural, soft shoulders which gathers at the waist and flows into a wonderful, generous skirt. The blouse, upper part of the gown buttons and there are ties that one can create a bow, toss over the shoulders or to simply drape down the front of the dress. Actually, it more of a gown, however, it is one that one could wear at home as hostess or pair with elegant accessories for an evening out. Measurements are: across shoulders: 16.75 inches, across waist: 14.5 inches, total length: 59 inches (can be shortened), the skirt part of the dress is quite generous and can accommodate most hip sizes.

The magic of this dress is that one can create different looks; for a home holiday party or Christmas celebration, one could wear it buttoned with a bow or for a more seductive look, a couple of buttons could be left undone and you could simply allow the ties to hang. There is a braided silk belt that comes with the dress. Also, one could combine a wide leather belt as a juxtaposition to the breezy feminine fabric ala Azzedine Alaia. For the less daring, there is also a full silk slip that comes with the dress which the previous owner had made especially for the dress. However, one could also pair with a camisole and matching silk cigarette pants or silk shorts. The dress is in very good condition and there are no holes, repairs, etc. 

Due to the timeless cut of the dress and the very, very good condition, it is difficult to say exactly when the dress was produced. We know that it is older than 12 years old.
