A 4.75 inch tall, superbly carved African mask depicting a laughing or smiling character. The mask is mid-century (circa 1950/1960) and is a part of a collection acquired by a Swiss diplomat during a 40 year tenure in Africa, focusing mainly on masks and African art from the regions of Tanzania and Congo. This mask has some holes from a previous worm problem which has been eradicated.
