A vintage 1970s, two piece ensemble of skirt and vest featuring the 70s fabric of choice, Lurex (92% Viscose, 8% Polyester). The scallop edge skirt has a swirl pattern of black and silver with matching vest. This outfit magically captures the essence of what glamorous 1970s fashion was about; using new fabrics that were light, body skimming and created additional movement when one whirled across the disco. This ensemble also mirrors the philosophy of many during this period and allowed a liberation of sorts for the wearer; dare she wear nothing underneath the vest. One can just imagine Diana Ross or Bianca Jagger twirling in Richard Avedon photos takein in Studio 1954 with Steve Rubell looking on. Today, one could simply wear the skirt and tone it down with a simple t shirt and sandals.
Both pieces are in very good condition. Vest measurements: 14 inches across shoulders, 17 inches across chest. Skirt Measurements: 13.25 inches across waist, total length: 40 inches and due to flared cut, the hips are quite accomadating up to 20 inches across. The fabric has some stretch, so one with a slightly smaller or larger waist or chest could wear it without problems.
