A vintage 1960s, skirt suit from the French fashion house, Chloe. The suit is made of a soft pink and gold metallic thread brocade. Rhinestones edge the jacket and the pockets on either side of the lined skirt. There is some very, very faint discoloration spots on the front of the skirt and one button is missing and one rhinestone at the jacket front. It is a size 4 to 6. The jacket width is 13.8 inches across shoulders.
Gaby Aghion and the house of Chloe is very important to the history of women's fashion. She broke ground in the 1950s as one of the first producers of Pret-a-porter; off the rack, well made and high quality fashion accessible to every woman. Aghion was also a visionaire in her engagement of young new designers, Karl Lagerfeld being one of the most famous. In 1966, Lagerfeld started his over 30 year association with the label. It is not clear if this design is from the hand of Aghion or Lagerfeld; however, the historical information available point that Lagerfeld's first collections for Chloe featured some of the shortest skirts in Paris. During the 60s, Chloe dressed some of the world's most famous women, including Jackie Kennedy, Brigitte Bardot, Maria Callas and Grace Kelly.
