Definition of Age Terms

1. Quintessentia,com uses the following descriptive terms for its items:
2. New Item: New condition is used to discern products that are newly produced either by a company which owns the trademarks and rights of production for an item or for Quintessentia GmbH. This term is also used for items that have never been removed from original packing or items for which we are the official /authorized dealer.
3. New Items with Vintage Elements: A newly produced item with antique or vintage material.
4. Vintage Item: Items that are between 20 and 100 years old.
5. Antique Item: Items that are 100 + years of age.

Definition of Terms Used to Describe Item Condition

1. Mint: A vintage or antique item that is pre-owned yet appears to be in new condition and free of any signs of use.
2. Very good condition: A vintage or antique item that has been used with minimal signs of handling, i.e. nicks, slight scratches or other light marks that are noticeable yet do not affect the function of the item.
3. Good: A vintage or antique item with more signs of use, i.e. nicks, slight scratches or other light marks that do not affect the function of the item.
4. Fair Condition: A vintage or antique item that has been repaired and is still functional as a decorative item.
5. Poor Condition: A vintage or antique item that has been repaired or is missing a part of its structure that would render it non- functional as it was intended.

Quintessentia GmbH does not make allowances for unreasonable expectations in the condition of items.

Product Descriptions: Quintessentia GmbH makes every effort to describe all products featured on our web site accurately via in-depth description and unaltered photos. Attribution and authorship are matters of opinion and not of fact. Descriptions of items on Quintessentia.com are partly dependent upon the expertise of our specialists, available research materials and sources.  Although Quintessentia.com and its specialists are not able to carry out exhaustive due diligence on each item, we make every effort to research and represent all items accurately.

We make every effort to describe the details and to attribute items to the proper designer or time period. We will do everything reasonably possible to provide you with all relevant information in order to help you make your choices wisely.

Product Availability & Pricing: We offer many unique items and quantities are limited. We cannot guarantee an item seen on one visit will be readily available on the next visit. We also reserve the right to change the availability or price of an item to reflect market conditions.

Warranties and Liabilities: Quintessentia GmbH is not responsible for, nor can we be held liable for, any damages that might occur from the use of a specific item.  As we are not the manufacturer of most items sold on this website, we cannot be held responsible for the quality of an item nor damages resulting from manufacturing defect.

Electrical and Mechanical Items: All items with electrical and mechanical components are sold based on their decorative value only and should not be assumed to be operative. It is the responsibility of the buyer, prior to intended usage, that the electrical system is verified and approved by a qualified electrician.

No warranties of any kind are given or implied.

Condition of Merchandise: The condition of each item is fully disclosed in each description and presented in numerous photographs. Quintessentia GmbH disclaims all responsibility of discrepancies that may be due to color calibration of the monitor used or due to the Internet.

All Items are sold “As is” and “As described”. 

We do not offer any warranties.

1. Errors & Omissions: Quintessentia GmbH makes every effort to provide accurate information. On the rare occasion, an error might occur: spelling, typographical, price, attribution, color, etc. As these are unintentional errors and may be due to unusual circumstances or beyond our control; we reserve the right to correct errors and to update product information at any time. Quintessentia GmbH does not warrant that information provided on the site will always be accurate, complete or current.
2. Communication: Every effort is made to respond to all correspondence expediently. We are under no obligation to respond to all correspondence received.
3. Technology Indemnification: Quintessentia GmbH does not warrant that this website will function without interruption or without errors. Nor do we warrant that this site or the server / provider will be free of viruses or other elements that might be harmful to your computer. This site and all contents of the site are provided on an "as is" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including without limitation warranties or title or implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

As a visitor to and a user of this website, you agree that your access, use of quintessentia.com and linked websites are at your own risk. Quintessentia GmbH is not liable for damages of any kind related to your use of or inability to access this site, even if Quintessentia GmbH knew of or should have known of the potential for such damages.

Information Privacy Policy

General: Quintessentia Gmbh does not disclose the identities of its consignors, customers or visitors without prior consent. Nor do we sell, or release information to anyone about the consignors, customers or visitors to this website without a court order.  All information submitted to quintessentia.com is kept strictly confidential and will not be sold or shared with any third party.

Client Email & Address Information: Quintessentia GmbH does not sell or release any customer information, including email address to any third parties. We may, however, from time to time include offers from partners in our regular emails without releasing data to the partner.

Payment: Quintessentia GmbH uses a third party processor for payments. Quintessentia does not retain any credit card information from its customers. The customer is subject to the separate terms and agreements as defined on the website of the payment processor.

Return Policy: All items are sold “As Is”. All sales are final and returns are allowed only in the case of a gross discrepancy of an item description. We do not allow exchanges nor are there provisions for buyer’s remorse. If the buyer feels that a return is in order due to a specific misrepresentation in a definite authorship, not in the case of references stating “In the School of…” or “Attributed to”, the buyer should send either physical or electronic evidence from a published work, including copy of reference, author and all related publishing information, i.e. ISBN number.

Shipping: Items will be sent by the Swiss Post, which works in conjunction with national & international postal agencies, i.e. United States Postal Service. We reserve the right to use another service at our discretion. The shipping is determined based on location of purchaser, weight and volume. Our shipping time quotes are estimates only and can vary. We are not responsible for the late arrival for any package. We arrange professional packing. All items will be insured for full value. The risk of loss and title of purchased items are the responsibility of the buyer upon our delivery of the packed item to the carrier. In the case of an item non-receipt or an item arriving damaged in transport, it is the responsibility of the buyer to contact the local authorities. Quintessentia GmbH will provide all reasonable efforts to assist the buyer in the process.

Import: Before purchasing an item, the buyer is advised to enquire as to whether a license is required to import the particular item. It is the buyer’s responsibility to comply with all import laws and to obtain licenses or permits needed for

Tax: All items sent or picked up within the Swiss borders will be taxed with a MwsT of 7.6%  as declared by Swiss Law.

Import Duties / Tax (if necessary): Import duties & taxes are the responsibility of each purchaser. Buyers outside of Switzerland are responsible for local sales taxes or import taxes that may be required upon importing an item from Switzerland.  Failure or unwillingness to pay this tax does not relieve the buyer of his/her responsibility to purchase the item.

Swiss Law

This agreement shall be exclusively governed by Swiss law, the exclusive venue (with exclusion of any other venue) being the ordinary courts in the City of Zurich (Subject to remedies to the Federal Court).  Quintessentia GmbH reserves the right to proceed against the counterparty in any other venue convenient.
