Sigfried Gideon is one of the most important Swiss architects and designers of the early 20th century. Through his close relationship with Bauhaus designers, he introduced the style and ideas of this movement into the Swiss design venacular. Internationally well regarded, he was also a lecturer at the Harvard School of Architecture.

about the designer :: Gideon, Sigfried

Sigfried Gideon was one of Switzerland’s most important and renowned early 20th century architects and designers. He was a contemporary of Walter Gropius and was part of the group, along with Le Corbusier, that formed CIAM in France. He was one of the founders of the Wohnbedarf stores that were responsible for introducing Bauhaus and modernist furniture to the Swiss market. In addition to his work with the Swiss architectural school at the ETH, he also taught at Harvard.
