A pair of soft sculptural light objects designed by Kazuhide Takahama. The lamps measure 11.5 inches tall and 16.75 inches wide . The light metal structure is covered with a stretch synthetic fabric to create these "Kaori 2" lamps. They are for wall, floor or table and are circa 1967. One lamp has label underneath and a structural metal part of one lamp has been replaced. Both are in very good condition.
Kazuhide Takahama is a Japanese born designer. He trained at the Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1953. Afterwards, he moved to Europe and landed in Italy where he worked for the Gavina Group, as well as designing several lamps for Sirrah, Simon and Knoll. His work is a synergy of traditional Japanese techniques and forms with the Western aesthetic. He creates practical, modern sculptures that address contemporary living issues.
