An original painting by the German artist, Max Oldenrock (1895 -1972 ). The abstract painting measures 27.25 x 33.75 inches and is board. The central figure of the painting features a pig. The painting is in very good condition and has the estate (nachlass) stamp on the back.
Max Oldenrock was was a German Expressionist artist but focused more on the avant garde aspect of the movement. He exhibited, along with Robert Delauney, Marc Chagall and Kirchner in the Sturm Gallery of Herwarth Walden in Berlin in the 20s. He was also a member of the "Deutsche Werkbund" and had connections to the Bauhaus via Lothar Schreyer. Many of his works were destroyed during the 3rd Reich. His work has been featured in several landmark exhibitions, including the 1961 Berlin exhibition in tribute to Walden's famous magazine, Der Sturm and the German Avant Garde exhibition in Cologne in 1971.
