A vintage 1960's spiral umbrella stand. The stand has a coiled spring design which is an adaption of a massive, industrial, machine part for daily use. The sculptural form also allows one to view it as a very nice piece of practical work of op art, an example of useful, found art or objet trouvé. The coil is chromed steel. The total height is 16.25 inches tall and 10 inches in diameter. Other than light patina to base, it is in very good condition.
