about the designer :: Thorsson, Nils

Nils Thorsson first appeared on the international design stage when he won a gold medal for earthenware pottery that he exhibited at the World Exhibition in Paris. His wealth of talent was applied to create new glazes and new forms inspired by nature, the abstract, geometry and ancient ceramic techniques. He was an artistic director at Royal Copenhagen and was with the company for over 50 years. He is a founding father of 20th century Scandinavian potter design.
