The Naef Bauhaus Bauspiel is an amazingly simple yet poignant addition to the creative expression for children and the child in you. The building set is based on 3 basic forms carved from wood with non-toxic coloring. There are 22 pieces and a million possibilities how to use them.
It was designed by Alma Siedhoff-Buscher in the 1920's as a trailblazing student and designer at the Bauhaus School. In creating this set, she made the Bauhaus ideal accessible for children. This toy was a clear way for children to express themselves, gain self confidence in their abilities and explore the world and their fantasies via wooden cubes, cylinders and balls. She felt that through this building set children would find a clarity in expressing themselves.
Kurt Naef had been fascinated by Bauhaus designed toys since the 20's and 30's. After a visit to the Bauhaus Museum in 1965, Kurt realized that there was a demand for high quality re-editions of these classic toys. In cooperation with the Bauhaus Museum of Berlin and the designers' heirs, Naef toys has been bringing these classics to the modern child for 40 years.
