A 29 x 31.25 x 21.5 inch, vintage 50's Jean Prouve table that was originally produced for a French airport lounge / restaurant. Note that the legs and supports have an aerodynamic design similar to Prouve's architecture designs and the triangular shaped feet are reminiscent of the same shape as the supports of the compass table . The formica top is original and one side edge needs to be replaced or perhaps, one can remove the formica and simply use the wooden top. There is patina to the metal.
Jean Prouve was the son of the famous French (Nancy) artisan, Victor Prouve. After apprenticing as a blacksmith and a metalsmith, he opened his own workshop in 1923 and eventually, the Ateliers Jean Prouve in 1931. He completely embraced new manufacturing technology and industrial processes in combining industrial materials, sheet metal, aluminum and glass with wood to create furniture and architecture.
