A Horst Kerstan studio pottery vase. The stoneware vase is 8 inches tall and 5 inches in diameter. It has a hexagonal bottle shape with flared mouth, crackled celadon glaze. It is fully signed with K in a circle and in very good condition.
Horst Kerstan was one of the most important people of the contemporary German movement. He studied under Richard Bampi in Kandern and led the atelier after 1965. He gained the status of ceramics master in 1970. His subtle and harmonious treatment of pottery glaze reveals his fascination with traditional Japanese and Korean pottery which he managed to translate seamlessly into his very modern interpretations.
