A 13 inch tall, 1950's Czech studio art glass vase by Stanislas Libensky with over-painted decoration by his wife, Jaroslava Brychtova. The vase is made of clear glass cased in ruby red and white opaque glass. Some of the white panels serve as a canvas for Brychtova's whimsical miniature paintings. The vase has some light wear marks to paint in small place, otherwise, it is in very good condition. It is not signed.
A matching example of this vase was exhibited at the Brussels Worlds Fair in 1958. This design is also documented in the book by Helmut Ricke, Czech Glass 1945-1980 and the October 2008 Modern Glass auction catalog of Dr. Fisher (Germany). This is an extraordinary rare piece of mid-century modern Czech studio art glass.
