A vintage, 21 piece, German miniature wooden toy village. The village buildings are all hand-crafted and hand-painted. The village's simplicity is a perfect example of early pedagogical toys. The smallest building is 2 inches tall.
The set reminds one of the famous miniature village designed by the Bauhaus artist, Lyonel Feininger; "The City at the End of the World". The primitive makeshift style, as with Feininger's, was an intentional design choice. This set was a manufactured set and was either meant to be a play set alone or as a train accessory.
The set is structurally sound and there is some patina to the paint on some buildings from play. The church has a chip at its roof edge.
